DEFECTIVE DILL VALVE STEM ADVISORY |
Advisory Letter |
Dear Customer, |
Your safety and satisfaction is of the utmost importance to Discount
Tire Direct. Discount Tire Direct has determined that certain rubber
valve stems supplied by Dill Air Controls (Dill), an industry-leading
supplier of valve stems for tires, are cracking prematurely. We want
to inform you the valve stems you purchased from Discount Tire Direct
may be defective and you should replace them as soon as possible. A
valve stem is the black rubber piece that sticks out on each wheel
where you inflate the tire. |
Valve stem cracking may cause a tire to progressively lose air and the
rate of air loss is hard to predict. Driving on under-inflated or flat
tires could damage your tires, which potentially could lead to tire
failure, a loss of control, and a vehicle crash. Discount Tire Direct
has received a few reports of accidents, including one fatality,
allegedly caused by a cracked valve stem, and we are actively
investigating these accidents. We strongly encourage you to take the
following steps: |
1. Please visit www.DTDcares.com, or if you do not
have access to the internet, call our hotline toll-free at 1-888-356-0262,
to obtain information regarding our reimbursement program for replacement
valve stem service. Then, please schedule an appointment as soon as
possible with your local tire retailer for valve stem replacement service.
Important: If you have noticed air loss in any of your tires, please
immediately visit your local tire retailer to receive valve stem
replacement service. |
2. After you have paid someone to replace your valve
stems, please follow the instructions on our reimbursement form and submit
it to Discount Tire Direct to receive your reimbursement payment. |
Discount Tire Direct believes it is important to proactively resolve this
issue and will reimburse you to have these valve stems replaced. We
appreciate your continued business and trust. |
Sincerely, |
